Recommendations:
Waxing Prepcare:
1.) Waxing Hair length
Recommendation is 1/4 of an inch-think of a grain of rice. Wax need some hair growth for the wax to hold onto. Roughly about 2-3 weeks of growing it after shaving.
2.)Exfoliate
While the skin on the face is doesn’t usually need to be exfoliated. But most people’s body needs a little help and should use a exfoliant prior to waxing. A body scrub will help sluff off the dead cells around skin pores and hair follicles, providing an easier hair removal during waxing.
A few days before appointment, shower and lightly exfoliate entire area the day before your waxing appointment using warm, not hot water due to your pores opening when hot.
3.) Pain prevention
Take an Ibuprofen or Advil 30-45 minutes before your appointment if you are concerned about pain. Also don’t forget about numbing cream if you are very sensitive during you waxing. You can find these products on Amazon to have in your home.
4.) Reduce acidity
Smoking, regular caffeine and alcohol consumption creates a lot of acid in the body’s system. You might benefit from taking something like Tums 20 minutes before your waxing service to reduce acidity and therefore reduce skin’s sensitivity.
Don’t drink a lot of caffeine or alcohol. While having a couple glasses of wine or beer before getting waxed sounds like a great idea, stimulants in the system can cause skin to be extra sensitive to waxing and also cause blood thinning.
Give yourself a couple of hours after drinking coffee or alcohol before getting waxed. Instead, drink a lot of water to hydrate your body and skin.
6.) For the Ladies
Your skin is the most sensitive the time near your mensuration. Waxing can be more painful or irritated than normal thanks to hormones. Your appointment shouldn’t be any closer than a couple of days before or after your period to avoid pain. But don’t worry you can still wax on your period.
7.) Regrowth
Because of hair growth cycles, sometimes the first wax may already grow some stubble after a couple of days. It is not the hair waxed already growing, but another cycle that was still under the skin during waxing. While it’s usually only a small amount of hair, for more smooth results wax twice before an event or vacation. The second time, cycles are more even and there is less regrowth.
Waxing Aftercare:
In the first 24-48 hours you may experience some sensitivity from the hair removal such as redness or irritation in the area that was treated. These are normal. Usually there is less reaction the longer you wax.
Avoid for 24 hrs after waxing
1.) No Makeup, if face is waxed to eliminate possibility of breakouts
2.) No Deodorant/antiperspirant preferably any deodorant but especially with aluminum..
3.) No use of any exfoliating products, especially ones containing acids, since they might further irritate your skin.
4.) No swimming or soaking. Showers are better than bathes to avoid skin irritation. Use only lukewarm water-not hot.
5.) No saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools or other heated sources.
6.) Do not expose hair removal area to ultra-violet rays indoor or outdoor.
7.) No gym/Avoid heavy exercise for at least 24 hours. Sweating excessively can irritate the waxed area.
8.) No Sexual activity especially waxing in genital areas, this could cause bacteria infections.
9.) No touching of freshly waxed skin, especially areas that are sensitive to irritation and breakouts
• To avoid ingrown hairs in the waxing area don’t wear tight clothes when you start to see regrowth.
• To avoid ingrown hair, use a good body oil two - three times a week.
Exfoliate the waxed area (one week after) two-three times a week to get rid of dead skin layer. This will allow your hair to grow above the skins surface. If your hair cannot poke through the skin, it will curl down and create an ingrown hair.
Applying a solution of 2% salicylic acid, you can find this on the acne care aisles, will help maintain smooth skin.
Lash and Brow Aftercare:
Your lashes need to stay dry for 24 hours after your lift/tint. This helps them stay set. If showering and washing face continue to avoid eye area, gently remove eye makeup without saturating the lashes with water/cleanser.
To help the lift continue to stay you can brush your lashes with a mascara makeup spoolie a few times a day to continue to train the lashes to stay lifted.
For brow care after lams, keep brows dry for 24 hours after service. Avoid brow area when removing makeup or cleansing face. After 24 hours wash face like normal. It's important to keep them dry especially while sleeping the first night.
Most tints last 4 weeks and will slowly fade over time. They will look dark the first few days and slowly start transition lighter.
Some individuals become concerned with the results due to how dark the brows look the first 48 hours. But be assured they will fade gradually.
